H/CH-21 Shawnee/Vertol 44

The H/CH-21 Shawnee/Vertol 44 was the first helicopter to make a nonstop transcontinental flight across the United States. Originally designed for high-altitude, cold-weather operations, the first H-21s joined the U.S. Air Force in 1953 for rescue operations in the Arctic. Proving to be rugged and reliable, the Shawnee also served in Alaska, Northern Canada and Greenland.

Initially designated Piasecki Model 44, the H-21 Shawnee was the fourth tandem-rotor helicopter designed by Frank Piasecki, founder of the P-V Engineering Forum, later the Piasecki Helicopter Corp. After Piasecki left the enterprise in 1955, it became the Vertol Aircraft Corp. Boeing bought Vertol in 1960.

Although the Shawnee usually had a crew of two (pilot and copilot), it could carry either 20 fully-equipped troops or 12 litter patients. It earned the nickname of the U.S. Air Force “Workhorse” and, along with others in the tandem-rotor series, was also called the “flying banana.”

The U.S. Air Force took its first delivery of the H-21 in August 1957, and the helicopter was deployed to Myrtle Beach Air Force Base, S.C., and Havana, Cuba.

Redesignated CH-21B in 1962, the CH-21 served in Vietnam until 1964, when it was replaced by UH-1 “Huey” and the CH-47 Chinook. The Shawnee went on to support the Utah Test and Training Range until its retirement in April 1971, to Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Ariz. It was dropped from the Air Force inventory the following November.

The CH-21C version served in combat with the French in Algeria, as well as with the armed forces of Canada, Sweden and West Germany. The commercial transport version, the Vertol 44, was operated by several airlines. A total of 707 in the CH-21 series were built.

O RETORNO

O Rotor Toni ficou parado por longa data.

MOTIVO:

Mudanças, muitas mudanças, vagando entre Fortaleza e Paraná. Todos sabem o quanto é terrível para o os kits todas estas mudanças.

Resultado, todos os kits sem excessão, avariados muitos bem avariados.

Desanimador mesmo, terminar um kit e colocar na caixa, e não em um expositor também é outro fator que prejudica. O apartamento onde moro tem muita poeira. Sempre que se termina algo precisa guardar tudo. E “armar” o circo e desarmar todos os dias, todos sabem que também enche.

Estive este ano e meio que passou totalmente absorvido pelo serviço, para quem ainda não sabe, atuava como Diretor de Arte, em uma empresa de WEB. Chegar em casa exausto é rotina.

Porém os ventos estão mudando e agora, espero, é para valer.

Refeito o layout do site, agora mais vontade de postar.

Seguir o exemplo do meu grande amigo MACIEL com seu blog exemplar modesmimoBR, que possui uma assiduidade fantástica de postagem.

Com certeza minha assiduidade não será assim, visto que faço mil coisas ao mesmo tempo sem me dedicar a nada excluisvamente. Mantenho 6 blogs com este, fora o site pessoal http://www.gugadetoni.com.br

O Rotor Toni possui muitas visitas de outros países, com uma média de 20 acessos diários mesmo como o blog parado, ou seja, tem cumprido o seu papel dentro da proposta.

Ser fonte de pesquisa para plastimodelistas aficcionados por rotores.

Depois de estar praticamente finalizado como a foto do início, o AH-1Z volta para a bancada, esquis quebrados, cabides de bombas, esse o grosso… Antenas.. só sobrou os pingos onde estavam.

SEA KING

A penas uma pré-montagem, kit da HASEGAWA, presente da mãe da Francesca (minha filha). É o meu kit mais estimado pelo valor sentimental.

Faz um tempo experimentei montar em série os kits para dar fluxo, pois possuo 22 helicópteros na caixa ainda. Porém desaconselho qualquer um. Além de não ser eficiente, a probabilidade de você não terminar nenhum é muito maior.

Este Sea King virá depois do Mi-24.

Comprei este kit qdo estava em Porto Alegre, ainda casado na época, vindo para Fortaleza pela primeira vez. Iniciei a montagem em 2007, ano que comecei o blog. Bem, depois de 3 anos parado, ele está praticamente na mesma.

Bristol Aircraft Ltd., divisão da Bristol Aeroplane Co.; desenvolvido a partir de 1960 pela Westand Aircraft.
Helicóptero de transporte, busca e salvamento, com tripulação de dois, mais três passegeios ou duas macas.
Embora o Bristol 171 tenha sido um dos primeiros helicópteros do mundo, mostrou-se bastante confiável e resistente, tendo prestado bons serviços em condições adversas.
A maioria destinou-se às Forças Armadas britânicas, e encontrou inúmeras utilizações em diversos campos de batalha.

O modelo existe tanto na 1/72 quanto na 1/48, sendo os dois fabricados pela Glencoe. Como todo modelo raro, temos que nos contentar com o que tem no mercado. Espere por bastante rebarba e, se gostar de scratch, boa diversão, pois realmente ele é pobre em detalhes. Pontos fortes no kit são o rotor bem detalhado, e as várias versões de pinuras para as quais vem os adesivos, estes também são de excelente qualidade.

Empoeirada galeria apresenta WESSEX

Modelo Italeri 1/72. Boa forma, pouca rebarba, detalhamento razoável. Sempre menos do que esperamos. Tempo de montagem… esta é uma incógnita, iniciei a montagem em 1999, isso mesmo. Ainda não terminei, durante anos procurei a imagem dele com o rotor dobrado, e nunca conseguia, depois de algum tempo estas imagens fervilham na internet, agora o que falta é tempo.

É o primeiro REVIEW que faço, então espero ajudar.
Várias modificações foram feitas no modelo, todas baseadas em desenho “Raio X”:

Apoio para as mãos, existem vários em todo o corpo do helicóptero. No modelo não apresenta nenhum.
Termômetro externo, em todos os helicopteros existem, em nenhum kit vem.
Rotor, o rotor original vem em posição normal, precisei refazer cada encaixe de cada asa (pá), o que esta faltandando para finalizar este kit é justamente fazer o encaixe para segurar as pás dobradas.
Aneis de ancoragem, todos os helicópteros embarcados possuem anéis, para serem literalmente ancorados ao convés do navio. também não existe isso no kit.
Apoios da porta traseira. Nos dois cantos da porta existem barras colocadas na diagonal. Que tbem não vem no kit.
Cabos do guindaste. Também não consta no original.
Entrada de ar. Esta sim foi uma obra de “presidiário”, a tela que vem impressa na forma do kit é muito boa, porém, não tão real como uma de verdade. Aí entra o trabalho. Com paciência de Jó, desgastei toda a tela impressa, deixando apenas a estrutura externa. Para fazer uma tela real usei a “camisinha” de bomba de chimarrão; que é uma espécie de filtro. Após medido e colado com cianocrilato, feitos os ajustes. Ainda precisava de um detalhe, resolvido com massa plástica aplicada bem dissolvida, aplicada com um pincel. Praticamente uma aguada de massa plástica. Deve-se notar que no centro apenas 3 pontos fixam a grade. Assim, colar toda ela na estrutura estará incorreto.
Grelha de saida de ar, atrás do rotor principal existe um grelha transversal. No kit o espaço entre as lâminas é muito pequeno, deve ser feito um leve desgaste para ficar na escala.
Grades do rotor, outro processo lento, desgastar as grades originais e substirtuir por grade em metal,; no caso não pode ser usada a camisinha de chimarrão, pois o formato e o tamanho são diferentes. Para isso usei ma peça em metal de um carro de combate na 1/35.
Antena lateral, feito com sprue, são duas duas “linhas” que devem ser colocadas.
Amortecedores do trem de pouso dianteiro. Ele érevestido com uma lona, e deve constar algumas ondulações, para dar o efeito das dobras. Para se conseguir este efeito, utilizei um cabo de aço muito fino, enrolando. Em cima disto joguei uma “aguada” de massa plástica. Em uma das fotos se observa melhor. o resultado.
Cintos de segurança em todos os assentos é de prache fazer.
Rotor trazeiro dobrado. Apos cortar o kit, deve-se fazer o interior das duas peças. Bem como as dobradiças.
Apoio dos pés, na lateral da cabine, se observar no kit, ele vem como um degrau reto, o que não ocorre no Wessex de verdade. Observa-se melhor nesta foto.
Ainda não estão prontas as correntes, mas no final ele estará ancorado ao comvés.

Em resumo, é um excelente kit. A Italeri sempre fez bons kits. Espero tem contribuído com algo, qualquer dúvida não deixe de mandar seu email para julianodetoni@gmail.com .
